Learning Objectives

In partnership with SMU Academy, the overall objective of this international course is to create exposure and awareness of the latest developments in precision engineering and advanced manufacturing. China has become one of the world's most advanced manufacturing hubs and the use of data and digitalisation in various industries has been one of its key strengths. Coupled with the need for lower manufacturing costs, advanced chip and component manufacturing, Chinese firms have grown in scale and capabilities. This course allows the participants the opportunity to have an in-depth understanding of the latest advancement in precision manufacturing and the use of advanced analytics, AI and other leading-edge technologies in the manufacturing value chain.

At the end of the 5.5-day course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the latest trends in large-scale manufacturing and precision engineering, particularly in the production of components that form the final product.
  • Appreciate the challenges of the diverse supply chain and the need for tighter integration across the manufacturing of electronic products and components
  • Understand the use of digitalisation and data in advanced manufacturing systems
  • Understand the key elements of production line design, automation and materials handling systems
  • Develop first hand in-depth look of how technology is being deployed in advanced manufacturing, including AI, IOT and robotics.
